Interesting consumer bill from Massachusetts

The Massachusetts House approved a measure last week that would require retailers to immediately notify consumers of a data security breach. Massachusetts has been hit with a series of high-profile security lapses recently, exposing millions of credit card holders to identity theft.

The bill also allows consumers to proactively freeze their own credit report (similar to Rep. Creekmore's bill here in Arkansas). The Boston Globe reports that consumers in states that allow freezes are not taking advantage of them.

I hope Dawn raises her bill again next session. Why is every state enacting this but Arkansas?

Because it’s like the AG said “A credit freeze is a big step and should not be taking lightly. Or maybe like the Gov. said that criminals may use the credit freeze against you. Although none of the 33 others states have run into this problem. Or maybe the Bankers did not like the Bill?
